From the website:

For more than two decades, the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has educated women about breast cancer, especially the importance of detecting the disease in its earliest stages through screening mammography, clinical breast examination, and for women 20 years of age and older, breast self-examination.

We hope that visitors to this site will join us in October and all year as we reach out to all women throughout the United States with our important messages about early detection and the value of early treatment if breast cancer is detected.

We hope that you will become a Program Leader during October and spread the message about the importance of early detection for breast cancer. On this web site you will find ideas and materials to use in the work you do to increase public awareness of early detection.

The National Breast Cancer Awareness campaign is comprised of several national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working in partnership to raise awareness and provide access to screening services. These groups make up the Board of Sponsors all of whom are listed and described on this web site. Click on any BOS member logo and learn more about breast cancer, breast health, and the importance of early detection of this disease.
